--- sidebar_position: 5 description: "Create labels from a file" --- # gt label import Create labels from a file ## Synopsis ```text Create the labels of a label file, one per line: "#color name", optionally followed by " ;description" and then by the flags in one last field: " ;exclusive", " ;archived" or " ;exclusive, archived". The description can be left out before the flags, as in "#7057ff priority/high ;exclusive". gt label export writes this format, and Gitea's label templates use it. Blank lines and lines starting with "# " or "##" are comments; any other line must be a valid label. Existing labels are refused unless --force updates them. ``` ``` gt label import [flags] ``` ## Examples ``` $ gt label import labels.txt $ gt label export --repo alice/old | gt label import - --repo alice/new ``` ## Options ``` -f, --force Update labels that exist already -h, --help help for import ``` ## Options inherited from parent commands ``` --cwd directory Working directory for repository discovery --debug Log the method, URL, status, and duration of each HTTP request to stderr --host URL Gitea instance URL, including any base path --interactive Allow prompts with machine output -q, --jq expression Filter JSON output using a jq expression; implies --json --json fields[="*"] Output JSON with the specified comma-separated fields, or all fields --no-input Disable prompts and implicit editor/browser interactions --org organization Manage the labels of an organization instead of a repository --remote remote Git remote used for repository discovery -R, --repo OWNER/REPO Select a repository as OWNER/REPO or URL --sudo user Perform API requests as this user (requires an administrator account) --user name Account name on the selected instance -y, --yes Accept confirmations without prompting ``` ## SEE ALSO * [gt label](../label/index.md): Manage labels
